My name is Adam, a fourth generation Japanese American and recent graduate from Stanford University.I’ve had the opportunity to live in Japan for 5 months through my university’s study abroad program as a third-year student. I enjoyed my time so much that I decided to return to Japan for a longer period of time. I love meeting new people and am very talkative. I know that learning a new language can be difficult (I’m learning Japanese right now), but I am here to support you, help you learn, and make it fun! | 主な職歴 |
I was a high school global studies teacher in Hawaii. Through this program, I taught twice weekly, two and a half hour classes focusing on global affairs, such as child labor and the social implications of China's economic development. I've also had 6 years of experience teaching taiko, a contemporary form of Japanese ensemble drumming. My students have ranged from beginners to veteran players and children to adults, and my lessons have varied in size from one-on-one settings to groups numbering over 80 people. In addition to teaching experience, I’ve also worked as a web and graphic designer. I’ve worked as a freelance web and graphic designer for the past two years designing and coding websites for a variety of clients- from musicians and photographers to construction and tropical fish wholesale companies. I also worked for a Japanese web development company in Tokyo, designing and implementing the user interface for a new search system used in a Japanese media-focused social networking site. |

I have been a full-time English language instructor since December of 2008. As a language instructor, I was responsible for planning and developing lessons suited to meet each individual student’s English learning goals, as well as to change the given material as needed for each lesson. I was responsible for teaching children as young as 5, to teenagers, and to adults with a wide range of backgrounds and skill levels. |

| 趣味・興味 | I am a practitioner of a contemporary form of Japanese ensemble drumming called taiko. I have actually played taiko since I was 6 years old and continue to practice and perform here in Japan. I also enjoy dancing (liquid and popping), rollercoasters, cooking, beat-boxing (voice percussion), drawing, juggling, and playing basketball. |
